Valery KOSHLYAKOV
Born in 1962 in Salsk, Russia
Lives and works in Paris, France
Valery Koshlyakov is one of Russia’s most wellknown contemporary artists. After studying at Grekov Art College in Rostov, he worked as a set designer for a local theatre where he met artist Avdey Ter-Oganyan, leader of the “Art or Death” group, in which he would participate in many exhibitions deemed to be scandalous. Through all that time, Valery Koshlyakov remained one of the most moderate members of the now defunct group. His work was presented in 2001 at the Schusev Museum of Architecture, in the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, and then at the State Russian Museum.
