At first sight, Kevin Rouillard approach seems to interact with that of a collector, or even that of the archeologist. As a matter of fact, the artist keeps looking for objects that share common values with one another, either formally or scientifically. He endlessly gathers them, studies them and stores them, for fear they would fall into oblivion. He snoops the pleats of history and inspects the roots of our memory. Through this process, Kevin Rouillard could claim to sit among artists who have, for years, investigated our wastes, our archives, our connections to objects and have highlighted our unceasing propensity to turning items into objects.
