SUPPORT FOR ARTISTIC PRODUCTION – TATIANA WOLSKA, “BELLADONE”, DRAWING LAB

2025

The RAJA Collection is delighted to support the “Belladonna” exhibition by artist Tatiana Wolska (Drawing Now 2024 Prize), presented at Drawing Lab from January 24 to April 20, 2025 (curated by Marianne Derrien).

“The exhibition Belladonna by Tatiana Wolska (born 1977 in Poland, lives and works in Brussels) nestles between the political and the intimate by offering a physical and cognitive experience where drawing merges with sculpture. Witches’ plant, good or magic weed known since Antiquity, Belladonna, is both the remedy and the poison reminding us that its use requires subtle handling as well as great knowledge. Through the history of this plant, the exhibition promotes proliferation and dialogue in order to unite the familiar and the strange, lightness and ardor, suggestion and claim.” (exhibition text)

For this exhibition, Tatiana Wolska has designed and created a monumental installation made up of hundreds of torn, cut, painted and stapled pieces of paper, which proliferate in the exhibition space and cover the floor and walls. The RAJA Collection contributed to the production of this work-construction by donating over 200,000 staples, the central material of this new experiment by Tatiana Wolska. The artist also used recycled cardboard to create protuberances protruding from the walls and seats for visitors.

“Tatiana Wolska’s graphic and volume works mutate into probable or indefinite organic envelopes. By creating value from that which does not last, the artist asserts an experimental and committed stance with this new work-construction in paper (torn, cut and stapled) alongside other works already produced. “(exhibition text
