Laurent BAUDE

Laurent Baude is a French visual artist. He spent his childhood abroad, first in Thailand and then in Jordan, where he would learn Arabic, but also Finland and Sweden. A great fan of archaeology, he studied sculpture at the School of Decorative Art in Stockholm. In 1979, he moved to Paris to study at the Beaux-Arts and work in César’s studio. His totems garnered the attention of famed gallery owner Éric Fabre in 1983. From then on, he would not only exhibit his work in Paris, but also in New York, Chicago and Beirut. After winning a grant, he spent a year in Egypt and then taught in the Middle East and in the United States, at the Art Institute of Chicago.
