Pauline FILLIOUX

Born in 1987 in Cavaillon, France
Lives and works in Paris, France

Between portraits, nudes, scenes of life and reappropriations of artwork, her work combines technological innovation with a new and daring technique. She studies the composition of her photographs, working the shadow and light before retranscribing the images by superimposing layers of packing tape or colourful adhesive tape to create her unique effect. Each piece of adhesive tape is cut by hand, making her pieces unique works of art.
“In my work is a desire to appropriate and divert the everyday. Revenge against this tape, and the concept of surpassing the limits established by those strips. It was created to ‘close’, but I open it up to the world of art.”

After training in the applied arts and graphic arts in Avignon and Marseille, she devoted herself to the visual arts, taking up painting and photography in 2006 under the in uence of great artists the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marcel Duchamp and David Hockney.

When she arrived in Paris in 2008, she met a number of major players in the art world, including the famous couturier Pierre Cardin and Brazilian painter Marcos Marin, both of whom would support her and enable her to take her rst steps on the market, including her rst show in a Parisian gallery in October 2009.
