In her art, Malvina Silberman mixes retouched photos, photocopies, objects and texts that, once installed, create an atmosphere evocative of events from the past. Materials often found in situ, lightweight and easy to carry, and hastily assembled, create a decor where the object meets the living. Here, the supple body of the dancer in motion confronts and plays with the concepts of order and construction. This improvisation balances between confinement and escape, rootlessness and a desire to settle down. Next administrative signs are juxtaposed over the surface of the image. The photograph acts like a painting, suspending and preserving a moment in time.
